Syllabus- Black Belt (1st Dan)

A thorough knowledge of all other Belt Syllabus (including all variations) is expected before a student is permitted to grade for Black Belt.

1. 25 Straight Throws (Student to submit with Application
Form a list of the 25 throws to be
performed)

2. Counters to Throws:
i hip Throw
ii drawing ankle
iii shoulder wheel
iv full shoulder
v body drop throw

3. Inside leg Sweep

4. Seven Combination Throws
1. Hip Throw to Stamp Throw
2. Hip Throw to Leg Throw with Lock
3. Shoulder Wheel to Reclining Leg Throw
4. Body Drop to Front Scissor Throw
5. Half Shoulder to Rice Bale
6. Inside Hock to Lapel Throw
7. Cross Hock to Rear Throw

5. Lunge punch, reverse punch to body and face

6. Kata of Blocks

7. Inside Forearm Block, followed by Back Fist to Ear with Throw

8. Defence against Kicks:
1. Four Defences against Front Kick
2. Defence against a Roundhouse Kick
3. Defence against a Back Kick
4. Defence against a Side Kick

9. One Handed Throat Throw

10. Attacking the Eyes and Ears

11. Using X block to stop punch to face, pull opponent onto roundhouse kick or roundhouse knee

12. Three Reverse Punches to three different opponents

13. Right & Left Upward Block & Throw

14. Three Punches to body, face & Body again

15. Palm Heel Block, with attack, from various moves

16. Defence against Sparring Opponent - who attempts kicks to body
(as practised be Karate exponents)

17. The Open Hand (its uses)

18. The Elbow (used for close in fighting)
1. Cross Strike e.g. from Inside Block
2. Upward Strike e.g. from Inside Block
3. Back Strike e.g. from Outside Block
4. Downward Strike e.g. from Downward Blow
5. Combination Strike e.g. Body, Body and Face

19. The Bottom Fist (how to use it)
1. Strike to Collar bone
2. Strike to Nose
3. Strike to Temple
4. Strike to Back of Head
5. Combination e.g. Collar Bone or Temple

20. The Student opinion of the four most effective and dangerous throws in the repertoire

21. Four most used Kicks in Jiu Jitsu Kata

22. Defence Against Side Snap Kick

24. General Anatomy
